- Using Minecraft as Teaching Tool was published in Humanising Language Teaching in 2022.
- An article on using Story Prompts for Reluctant Writers was published in Humanising Language Teaching in 2019.
- Harnessing social learning and metacognition to introduce new words was published in the ETAS Journal in a special issue dedicated to teaching vocabulary, along with Scott Thornbury, Penny Ur, and other far more illustrious people than me.
- My reflections on being a small ELT Publisher were also published in EFL Magazing in 2019 under the title I NEVER SET OUT TO BE A PUBLISHER BUT HERE I AM!
- So You Want to Self-Publish in ELT was a two-part set of articles I did for IATEFL’s Voices journal in 2019.
- Don’t Break the Ice, Build Community was one of the top-read articles by middle-school teachers and school administrators the month it was published. How to turn away from perfunctory icebreakers and get students really building community.
- How to Get on Teachers Pay Teachers for aspiring or experienced materials writers appeared in the MWIS newsletter in 2017.
- Making Discoveries: an ESL story is an interview I did with Jennifer Lebedev of English with Jennifer fame. Learn how I became an English teacher, my favorite icebreaker, and my least favorite place to go to the bathroom.
- Teacher to Teacherpreneur interview is an interview I did with Patrice Palmer on how I published my own book, and other fun stuff about my day. In case, you wanted to know when I eat lunch!
- Mid-Year Community Building is a guest post where I share some of my thoughts on doing icebreakers all year round, especially after a break in the term.
- Icebreakers Aren’t Just for the First Day of Class is a guest article on the TiePlay Educational Resources blog about the benefits of doing icebreakers all year round, not just on the first day of class. I shared some icebreakers that I think are particularly well suited to keeping up with students” changing lives, interests, and needs.
- It’s Not Them, It’s You: Why Students Don’t Pay Attention And How To Keep Dead Time Out Of Your Classroom is a series of tips for keeping class moving so students don”t have time to get bored, published on the Busy Teacher website.
- A Post-TESOL 2014 Reading List for Materials Writers published on the TESOL Blog. I remember going to a lot of sessions about corpuses that year. And drooling over Philip Kerr’s book on using L1 in the classroom!
- Teaching Intros and Conclusions to ELLs Without a Safety Net, a post on teaching students to write good introductions and conclusions, published in TESOL Connections,.
- From the Trenches: Reminiscences from a First ELT Writing Project , some lessons learned from my first gig with one of the big publishing houses that was printed in the MWIS Newsletter.
- My method for teaching vocabulary using Social Learning was published in IATEFL Voices. I’ve also produced some worksheets using the social learning method at Teachers Pay Teachers.
